Leave tooth whitening to the professionals

Tooth Whitening can be dangerous and should therefore always be carried out by a dental professional.  It is illegal to provide tooth whitening treatments unless you are qualified to do so.  If you are considering safe and effective tooth whitening, our Private Dentist in Liverpool can offer you a very safe and effective tooth whitening treatment.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements further or to make an appointment.

Oral and Physical health are linked

Tooth-brushing and flossing to maintain healthy gums has been common knowledge for many years, and has played a significant role in improving general oral health. However, evidence is building of links between oral infection and bacteria with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Treating inflammation, therefore, may not only help manage periodontal disease, but may also help with the management of other chronic inflammatory conditions.

Stress and anxiety can cause damage to your teeth

It's no secret that stress can take its toll on your health.

But a Newcastle dentist has warned of a less commonly known side effect - the damage it could be doing to your teeth.

Last month Hollywood star Demi Moore admitted losing two pearly whites due to anxiety.

And Dr Rob Wain, of Newcastle-based Dovetail Bespoke Dental Solutions, says the star’s story is more common than people might think.

The expert has revealed how he sees signs of stress-related teeth problems “every single day”, and warned about the worryingly common signs your hectic life is taking its toll on your teeth.

Be confident and safe with professional tooth whitening

Former dental technician has been ordered to pay more than £10,000 after being convicted of offering tooth whitening illegally.

Following a prosecution by the General Dental Council (GDC), Jeffrey Lehmann has also been given a criminal behaviour order, which – if breached – could result in imprisonment, a fine or both.

This is the first time that the GDC has sought – and had granted – a criminal behaviour order. The order imposed prevents Jeffrey Lehmann from advertising and offering dentistry.

Taking care of children's teeth is extremely important

As a child we're always told the importance of brushing our teeth and - despite pushing away our parents' hands as they came at us with toothbrushes - most people are glad they listened to their elders.

But a young man who claims he wasn't encouraged to brush his teeth when he was a youngster learned the devastating effects food and drink can have on your pearly whites.

The man, known only as Jay, appeared on an episode of Embarrassing Bodies at the age of 21, in which he confessed he had never taken care of his teeth through brushing or flossing.

He admitted: "Over the years I've eaten the wrong foods, I've drank lots of fizzy drinks and I haven't really taken care of them - I haven't really brushed them or flossed or anything like that."

Sugary food affects our oral health

Sugary food and sweet packets should carry warnings on them to help improve children’s oral health, doctors have said.

The British Medical Association (BMA) has called for cigarette-style health warnings on the packaging of sugary foods that are aimed at children to curb the high children’s teeth extractions being experienced in hospitals around England.

‘This meeting is dismayed that more than 34,000 children aged nine years and under have had tooth extractions in the last two years, 18,000 of which are five years and under,’ the BMA council said at its annual conference in Bournemouth recently.

The BMA is also calling on the Department of Health to introduce compulsory dental hygiene lessons in primary schools.

E-Cigarettes can damage your oral health

Health campaigners have today praised new laws on e-cigarettes, claiming it could signal a significant breakthrough in helping people quit smoking, but share concerns over potentially unknown side effects.

The changes will come into effect in the United Kingdom this Saturday [20 May 2017] and limit the size and strength of e-cigarette tanks, as well as ban certain ingredients, including colourings and caffeine.

E-cigarettes and e-liquids must be registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products regulatory agency before they can be sold. Vape tanks larger than 2ml will no longer be permitted while e-liquid bottles now have a maximum capacity of 10ml. A maximum nicotine strength has also been set at 20mg (2%).
