A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect a damage to a tooth's surface.
Dental veneers are used to improve the appearance of a tooth. If a tooth is discoloured, a veneer can be used to improve the colour. Veneers can also be used to improve the shape of chipped or broken teeth as well as to improve the position of a tooth that is slightly out of position – i.e. to close any gaps. They are generally made from a thin layer of porcelain, and fit over the front surface of a tooth. The advantages of veneers are that they restore discoloured, chipped or out of line teeth to their true glory, giving you a healthy and natural smile.
