E-Cigs cause damage to gum tissue

A University of Rochester Medical Center study suggests that electronic cigarettes are as equally damaging to gums and teeth as conventional cigarettes.

The study, published in Oncotarget, was led by Irfan Rahman, Ph.D. professor of Environmental Medicine at the UR School of Medicine and Dentistry, and is the first scientific study to address e-cigarettes and their detrimental effect on oral health on cellular and molecular levels.

Electronic cigarettes continue to grow in popularity among younger adults and current and former smokers because they are often perceived as a healthier alternative to conventional cigarettes.

Do not be a victim of illegal tooth whitening, our cosmetic dentist in Liverpool offers safe and effective tooth whitening.

The General Dental Council (GDC) has today prosecuted a woman in Liverpool for illegal activity relating to tooth whitening that has left an eighteen year old victim with permanent teeth and gum damage, as well as the expected loss of two lower front teeth.

Ms Cheryl Roberts was found guilty at Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates’ Court and fined £660. The judge also ordered her to pay £2000 to the victim and the GDC’s costs of £1000. Ms Roberts failed to attend court and the matter was proved in her absence.

Dentures can change the way you look and feel

Dentures are used to replace lost or missing teeth and are generally made from acrylic in a colour to match your natural teeth. Not only do full dentures replace natural teeth but they also provide the necessary support for lips and the cheeks. If you weren’t to have this support, the facial muscles can begin to sag which can result in a person appearing older while reducing their ability to speak or eat.

Our Liverpool Dentist can help take good care of your oral health

Tooth loss can be used as a major predictor to somebody's life expectancy, according to new research.

The research, published in the Periodontology 20001, found that the number of teeth we lose can be a key indicator to our quality of life and that those who have a full set of teeth when they are 74 are significantly more likely to reach 100 years old2.  So it is very important to take care of our teeth and our Liverpool Dentist can help you with this through regular checkups  and identifying problems early if there are any.

A straighter smile to help boost your confidence

Invisalign® treats a number of teeth straightening issues, ranging from minor tooth movements to more advanced cases of misalignment.  Whatever your issue, the result is a gorgeous, straight smile that you will be proud of and that will boost your self confidence.

Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your Cosmetic Dentist in Liverpool.
